What can I do with Durafix that I can't do already?
The three most common methods for joining and repairing metal parts are:
- Welding
- Soldering
- Brazing
All these methods present problems when dealing with aluminium or zinc alloys. Conventional welding requires a very high temperature.
On aluminium, this creates an oxide layer faster than the joint can be made. It can melt zinc alloy altogether. Special equipment is needed to prevent oxidation and great care is required to ensure the melting point of the alloy itself isn't reached. This is a real problem when thin sheets are involved.
Durafix Easyweld requires only a low temperature and no flux or techniques to prevent oxidation. The rod takes care of this by itself. All you need is a hand-held torch
