Is the process similiar to brazing?
Yes it is a similar process. The one major difference between Durafix Easyweld and standard brazing is in the application.
With standard brazing, the rod itself is heated directly to melting and applied to the work area. Durafix Easyweld rods must NOT be heated directly. The rod will shatter when the flame is applied directly to it.
Durafix Easyweld uses the heat from the work piece to melt the rod. Using the torch bring your work piece to temperature - 730`F (380°C), and simply rub the Durafix Easyweld rod into the work area.
When you have the correct temperature, the rod will flow like solder. Keep the heat on the work area until you have completed the job. At this point you will have the rod under the flame, don't panic, as long as your work piece is at the right temperature and the rod is flowing, it will be fine.
