How do I know when I've got the right working temperature?
Once you have prepared the work area, apply your torch. Depending on the gauge (thickness) of the material you are working on, you may reach working temperature within a few seconds, but it could be as much as a few minutes.
While heating the work area, lightly rub the end of a rod onto the work surface. The rod will start to flow as soon as working temperature has been reached.
If you have a very large work piece or heavy gauge material, please be patient, it may take some time to reach the working temperature.
You can try a hotter heat source, but patience is the best method.
